The Associação Portuguesa dos Bombeiros Voluntários (APBV) celebrated their 16th anniversary this Saturday in Carnaxide, Lisboa. During the event, conducted by the President of National Emergencies and Civil Protection Authority, Brigadier General Duarte da Costa, different recognitions of merit were awarded.
Firefighters, companies and entities were decorated for their relevance in emergency episodes, and for their contribution to strengthening the institution. "Being a Firefighter is not what we do, it is what we are."
Vallfirest received a Gold Medal ('Medalha Bons Serviços Grau Ouro (Conduta e Apoio)') for the services rendered and the assistance offered in 2017. In the worst bush fire crisis that the country remembers, Vallfirest provided over 200 hand tools to the Portuguese emergency bodies.
