Temperature and wind chill can be displayed in °C or °F.
Capable of measuring the slightest breeze, the unit uses an ultralight impeller mounted on jewel bearings to measure wind speed and provide an accuracy of ±3%. For temperature readings, the Kestrel uses a fast-responding, hermetically sealed thermistor accurate to ±1°F (±1°C). Wind chill factor is calculated automatically from wind and temperature data using the U.S. National Weather Services official tables.
Measuring modes and display units can be changed at any time. Results are displayed on a large, easy-to-read LCD which automatically shuts off 45 minutes after last key press. The Kestrel 2000 is housed in a reinforced fiberglass case which is waterproof and floats.
A convenient neck lanyard and one CR2032 battery are included. Two-year manufacturers warranty.

It provides comprehensive environmental data on nine different measurements with the simplicity of the Kestrel 1000. Simply turn it on and scroll left and right to see exactly what the environment is doing. When you're done, slip on the hard cover and your Kestrel 3500 Pocket Wind Meter is just about indestructible.
While the weather can dictate the comfort level of individuals working or playing outside, it plays an even bigger part in many professionals jobs. Irrigation professionals use the Kestrel 3500 to ensure they are irrigating efficiently and the water they are dispersing is actually hitting their intended target, and not evaporating or blowing away. And on construction sites Kestrel users are preventing plastic shrinkage cracks and curing concrete more effectively with their Kestrel 3500.

These added features make the 5500 the Kestrel Meter of choice for military professionals, HAZMAT teams, and flight crews. Like all the new 5000 series, it can store up to approximately 10,000 data points.
If you select the Kestrel LINK Bluetooth model, your meter includes custom communication software designed to quickly and easily set your data transmission rate, download logged data, graph data, and transfer data to other applications. No need to purchase a separate interface anymore, newer Bluetooth-enabled Kestrel Meters include the necessary software to communicate wirelessly up to 100 feet away with a clear line of site (walls or obstacles will affect this range).
Please note that you will need a dongle. A workaround if you don't have this with you would be to upload your data to your mobile smartphone and email it to yourself and open it on your Mac / PC. On the 4000 series you didn't need the Dongle.
All 5000 series meters will have both a bright green backlight, which is ideal for even high sunlight conditions, and a night vision that preserves the backlight. Red Night Vision (NV) backlight incorporates optical filter to reduce overall glare and minimize blue and green spectrum light to preserve night vision. (Note: This 'night vision' is not compatible with night vision equipment). Basically, with the red backlight, the eyes don't need to adjust when looking from the meter to the horizon during night use.
